Justin participated in the Accenture Chicago Triathlon, the largest triathlon in the world! This is the view from our room at the Chicago Hilton, the official hotel for the triathlon. Justin started doing triathlons a couple years ago and has competed in eight so far, including the Whirlpool Steelhead 70.3 Half-Ironman Triathlon 2007 which was held in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

Even after competing in an exhausting triathlon, Justin found the energy to take Stephanie shopping on Michigan Avenue!
During the summer of 2007, we drove to the western highlands of the Mt. Hood region to attend the wedding of Kari and Chad. Chad is an old friend of ours from medical school. He's a urology resident and Kari is a nurse... they met while working together at OHSU!
The wedding was held at the Resort at the Mountain in Welches, Oregon.
The scenery was amazing!

During our visit to Portland, Justin met up with his friend Prashant for a day of windsurfing in the Columbia River Gorge. Prashant was a senior ENT resident at Henry Ford Hospital when Justin was a junior resident and now practices in Eugene, Oregon.
The Columbia River Gorge is located near the border of Oregon and Washington.
The gorge is one of the finest windsurfing and kiteboarding locations in the world!
The Providence Bridge Pedal is an annual non-competitive cycling event in Portland that gives riders the opportunity to ride across up to ten bridges that span the Willamette River. This year we decided to ride together on a tandem!
It was a perfect day for a bike ride!

Over 20,000 people participated this year... unfortunately this lead to crazy bottlenecks where everyone had to get off and walk their bikes. At one point, there were thousands of people ahead of us....
And thousands of people behind us...
But we still had a great time enjoying the beautiful views of downtown Portland!
