Snowboarding in Utah

Last Friday I (Justin) was able to take a trip to Utah for 4 days of snowboarding and visiting family. I was able to stay with and spend some time with Grandma Rufener. I also got to visit with Scott and Abbie in Provo. Lane is working at Brighton ski resort as a "Liftie" or lift operator. I spent 4 great days on the mountain with him. Not only did he get me deals on passes and board rentals, but he was an excellent guide. Since he can snowboard almost every day, he knows all the great runs on the mountain.

The scenery was incredible. This is one of the things I miss most about Utah.

Lane, Scott and Justin were able to snowboard together one day. Here we are getting ready to go up the mountain.

The snow was terrific. Light and powdery as expected, and over 3 feet of snow in the mountains over the 4 days I was there! You can barely see my head above the cloud of powder.

Lane carving a turn.

Here I am getting ready to go off a cliff jump.

Here I am landing off the jump in the soft powder.

A video of Lane doing a "switch 180" off the same jump.
