Play Date With Friends

The girls had a play date with friends on saturday night!

We went out for dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory.

Everyone loves this spinning playground structure.

Blowing dandelions.

Then we came back to our house for games and popcorn. It was a fun night!

Science Fair 2017

The girls entered the school science fair this year... their experiment was called Tooth Decay- A Simulation. They used egg shells as a model for teeth and soaked the egg shells in water, Fanta, root beer, and vinegar. They observed the egg shells for five days and recorded their observations. This photo was taken on day one of the experiment.

This photo was taken on day five... the final day of the experiment.

From left to right: The vinegar completely dissolved the egg shell and only the membrane remained. The root beer turned the egg shell brown, and the Fanta turned the egg shell orange. The water did not affect the egg shell.

The final poster display.

I forgot to take photos at the actual science fair... oops! We had a fun time looking at all the projects and the girls received 2nd place ribbons!

Easter 2017

The girls let the eggs dry and decorated them later in the evening.

We gave the girls a gift on Easter morning... it's something that they had been wanting for a long time!

Kay and Kali came over with Easter treats too. The girls always love spending time with their cousins!

Taekwondo Jumping Videos

Lauren jumping.... wow!

Wind Storm 2017

A HUGE tree behind our house fell during the recent wind storm.

It landed on our house and damaged the upper deck and gutter. Fortunately the house was not punctured and no one was hurt!

The girls were frightened so they made an indoor pillow shelter for their favorite stuffed animals, Betty and Suzy.

A tree company came the next day to remove the tree. They had to use a crane!

After cutting the limbs off the tree, they used rope to secure the trunk to two other trees in our backyard. Next, the tree specialist rappelled from the crane so he could start sawing the trunk.

He used a long extension stick with a chainsaw on the end.

Video of the trunk being cut.

Danger!

Balancing on the fence while sawing the trunk.

They were able to cut the tree trunk far away from our property.

Our next step will be getting the deck repaired...

Old Lahaina Luau and Mama's Fish House

We went to the Old Lahaina Luau during our trip to Maui. It was touristy but fun!

The luau site is located right on the beach.

Girls excited for their front row seat at the pig roast.

A pretty carving at the luau site.

The traditional dancing was really fun to see.

Emily managed to procure extra leis for herself and Lauren at the end of the luau.

Our official family luau portrait.

On the last day of our trip. we had dinner at Mama's Fish House. They served some of the best sashimi we've ever had!

Emily had mahi mahi breaded with panko.

Lauren tried lobster tail for the first time and loved it!

Maui Ocean Center

We visited the Maui Ocean Center during our trip... the aquariums were filled with beautiful fish!

The sea turtle shells are very pretty.

I thought these fish were so neat... great camouflage and they look so stoic!

Small eels.

Emily checking out the octopus.

Lauren likes the touch exhibits... Emily has always preferred to just look.

Entrance to the shark exhibit.

Thumbs up for shaved ice as a mid afternoon snack!
