OBOB Team Practice

The girls' OBOB team, Reading Experts, are preparing to represent their school at regionals in March. 

This weekend their team practiced together followed by a trip to Burgerville for milkshakes. Cheers!

Quick Trip to Bend

We went on a quick trip to Bend... there was lots of snow on Mt Bachelor! 

It was really cold, but we still had fun skiing.

The following day it was near blizzard conditions up on the mountain, so we stayed at the hotel and the girls went swimming. Lauren decided to make a snow angel before jumping into the hot tub. 

We had lunch at one of our favorite Bend restaurants, Kona Mix Plate. Lauren had beef teriyaki, shrimp tempura, french fries, and rice. 

Emily had beef teriyaki, shrimp tempura, potato salad, and rice. 

We stopped at Sweet Tooth for candy. 

We decided to drive home a day early as a severe storm was predicted for sunday.  

Emily napped during the car ride home. It was a quick but fun trip!

Fourth Grade Music Program

The fourth grade music program was this week... the students did a fantastic job!

Lauren is in the second row from the back in the center.

The program was mostly singing...

...but also included a recorder song that was a big hit!

Valentine's Day and Dental Checkup

A parent volunteer sent me this photo of Emily at her classroom Valentine's Day party. 

The girls had dental check ups this week... Lauren loved this giant plush toothbrush!

OBOB School Champions

The girls' Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) team competed against a fifth grade team in the school championship this week. The fourth and fifth grade classes came to watch the battle so there were a lot of spectators! The girls' team is on the left... you can see Emily checking out the crowd.

Mr. Moore, the school principal, was the moderator for the battle. 

After each question, the team huddles and comes up with their answer. 

Emily is the team spokesperson, so she is in charge of announcing the team answer into the microphone. 

The girls' team, the Reading Experts, won the school championship! We are so proud of them! They will represent Alberta Rider Elementary at the regional OBOB competition in March.

Birthday Party Fun

Emily and Lauren went to a birthday party this weekend... it was a swimming party and they had a blast! 

Vietnamese New Year

The girls went to a Vietnamese New Year celebration with their friend Aero. She loaned them colorful festive dresses for the occasion! 

There were games, prizes, and sugary snacks. :)

Lauren and Aero gave Emily some of their prize tickets so she would have enough tickets to get this giant bear.

Oregon Battle of the Books- Fabulous Four

The girls' OBOB team, Reading Experts, continues to do well! They won the Fabulous Four bracket which means they will compete in the school finals!

Oregon Battle of the Books- Awesome Eight

The girls are competing in the Oregon Battle of the Books! Their team, Reading Experts, is one of the Awesome Eight which is comprised of the top eight teams at their school. We wish them best of luck as they advance to the next round!
