Science Fair and Happy Hour

The school science fair was a success!

This weekend the girls watched their friend Amanda perform in a ballet recital. Cameras were not allowed at the performance, but we did get to see her for a few minutes after the show. 

The girls and I were starving after the ballet performance, so we went out for happy hour at Southpark. We shared brussel sprouts, clam chowder, steamed clams, cheeseburger, and french fries. I ordered a few oysters too. :) It was delicious!

Lost Tooth and New Glasses

Lauren lost a tooth this week at school! The school nurse gave her a tooth box to keep the tooth safe.

The girls graduated from Children of the Sea last winter, so now they are taking lessons at the Conestoga Recreation Center. They are really enjoying it so far!

The girls picked out new glasses this weekend... super cute!

The Amazing Corn Kernels

The girls conducted a fun experiment for their school science fair! First, they made a solution of water and baking soda. 

Next, they added some corn kernels to the solution. 

When they added vinegar to the solution, lots of bubbles formed. 

The corn kernels began to rise and fall within the solution. The girls learned that baking soda and vinegar react to form carbon dioxide bubbles which make the corn kernels float to the surface. When the bubbles pop, the corn kernels sink back to the bottom.

Play Date and School Carnival

The girls had a play date with their friend Ries on friday after school. They went out for ice cream and everyone chose chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream!

It was a nice sunny day, and they had the entire park to themselves!

This weekend we also went to the Alberta Rider school carnival. The girls liked this racing game. 

One of the younger participants rode into Lauren's lane. She was very gracious and understanding. :)

Spring Break Skiing

We spent the last half of spring break in Bend... the girls love to go skiing with their friend Amanda! 

On thursday the weather was amazing and there was a fresh coating of powdery snow on the mountain. It was beautiful!

The girls had a chance to meet some of Amanda's other friends too. 

There was no school on monday, so the girls spent the day lounging at MAWS' house while we were at work. Emily and Lauren were SO excited when Kay and Kali came over in the evening for dinner and a game of cards. 

On saturday, the girls went to a birthday party at Sky High. Lauren and Emily are jumping in the back towards the right.
