February Portraits

Alberta Rider Science Fair 2015

The girls participated in their first science fair this week!  They learned about osmosis by studying the effect of water on gummy candies.  Here is Lauren (left) and Emily (right) getting ready to soak the gummy candies. 

After three hours of soaking, the gummy candies increased in size.  Here are the soaked candies placed next to control (non-soaked) candies for comparison.

The girls received certificates for participating and enjoyed seeing all the other projects at the fair!

Happy Valentine's Day

Emily's classroom Valentine's Day party was so much fun! Emily made this cute heart caterpillar...

 ... and a heart jellyfish!

Lauren's class had a great party too! There was lots of candy and everyone had decorated heart bags to hold all of their valentines.

Lauren got an extra special Valentine's Day gift from her friend Elian!

The celebration continued with a trip to Mango Tango, our favorite frozen yogurt shop.

We also made heart shaped sugar cookies! :)

Preparing Valentines

Lauren chose pink valentines with cute animals and hearts.

Emily chose these fun valentines with an animal theme. 

The girls placed a pretty pencil in each envelope too. :)

Cinetopia and Bubble Tea

We went to Cinetopia this week for dinner and a movie. We saw Paddington and really enjoyed it!
