Europe Trip- Day Seven

The next morning we went for a walk in Hyde Park.

The Albert Memorial honors the husband of Queen Victoria.

Wide angle view from our hotel balcony... we left for the airport shortly after I took this. We had an amazing time in Europe and look forward to visiting again someday!

 

Europe Trip- Day Six

The next day we headed to the airport to fly back to London.

We stayed at the Hilton London Paddington... it is connected to the Paddington train station which made it really easy to travel to and from the Heathrow Airport.

It was cold and rainy that night but fortunately we had a nice hotel room to lounge in.

Shortly before midnight, the fireworks started... we had a great view from our balcony of the fireworks display by the famous London Eye observation wheel.

Europe Trip- Day Five

We started our day with the tasty breakfast buffet at the hotel. 

The Manchego cheese was my favorite.

Justin and I tried turron- a Spanish nougat with nuts. It was delicious!

We went to the famous Palau de la Musica Catalana which was built in the early 1900's.

The interior is very ornate. 

This is what the main stage looked like. 

The colorful windows were beautiful. 

The ceiling was stunning as well.  

Wide angle view... it is hard to capture the feel of the interior in photographs. The concert we saw featured the Barcelona Guitar Trio with flamenco dancers. Their performance was fantastic! Photographs were not allowed. 

We ate tacos for lunch...

La Boqueria is a famous market featuring local food items. 

The cured meat area was a bit overwhelming. 

We wandered through Gothic Quarter... so much to see!

Next we went to Parc de Montjuic... the view of the city was amazing. 

We rode the cable car up to the top of the hill and enjoyed more pretty views.

We rode the cable car back down and at that point poor Lauren started to not feel well. We aren't sure if it was the tacos she had for lunch (?) Regardless, she was pretty miserable so we went back to the hotel for the remainder of the evening so she could rest and recover.
