Black Belt Testing, Part One

This weekend the girls completed part one of their black belt testing. It took over three hours and there was sweat and tears but they passed! Here are some photos of the black belt candidates doing forms. The girls are in the second row... Lauren is on the left and Emily is next to the mirror.

One of the requirements was to kick through two thick pine boards. It took Emily a few tries but she did it!

Lauren broke the boards on her first try!

Group photo at the end of the testing.

The girls were starving after the test so we went out to dinner. When we got home, the girls discovered surprise bouquets on our doorstep from our friend Jane!

Spring Taekwondo Tournament

The girls participated in their first taekwondo tournament this weekend! Here is Lauren sparring a competitor... she won the match.

Because there were only three girls in their age division, Emily and Lauren ended up sparring each other for the final round. Needless to say, it is a bit awkward to have to spar your own twin. They ended up tying for first place.

Lauren competed in a different form competition.

Girls with Master Eric. They were happy to have completed the tournament, each with a first and second place medal!

Weekend Activities

Birthday party with friends!

The girls attended a special taekwondo training seminar given by Master Moon, a famous sparring coach from South Korea. This photo shows Lauren's group doing drills.

The gym was really crowded but I was able to capture some footage of Lauren doing a kicking drill.

Playing with slime!

Spring Break in Bend

We went to Bend during spring break! We stayed in a rental home with friends.

The girls loved their bedroom... it had two sets of bunk beds!

Girls riding the lift.

The snow was decent and it was not very crowded.

The scenery is always beautiful at Mt. Bachelor.

The girls are pretty fast skiers, so it's challenging for me to record videos of them skiing. I did manage to capture some footage of Emily skiing.

We went to a foot spa and everyone loved it!

On our last day of skiing, there happened to be a big air competition at Mt. Bachelor. We were able to ski down the run next to the ramp and had a great view of the jumps.

Video of one of the jumps... so neat to see in person!

We had such a great time and look forward to more skiing next year!
